A Little
About Me!

My name is Tony McGarvey, and I am running to be your next City Council member in Brooklyn Park, West District.

I have lived in Brooklyn Park for over seventeen years now with my wife. We both graduated from Osseo Senior High School.

I am a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Baumholder Germany. After I was honorably discharged, though, it was a challenge to find meaningful employment. I found “ok” jobs, but not a career that would provide security.

I look around my neighborhood and I see many facing challenges and struggles that I am familiar with. I was lucky, a neighbor helped open my eyes to an opportunity, working with my hands, that allowed me to leave a life of insecurity behind. We can all be that neighbor for each other, right here at home in Brooklyn Park.

When people who must work for a living find the right opportunity, and take advantage of it, it’s not long before they discover that they are not just surviving, but their family is thriving and they are able to be contributing participants in the community and the economy.

I believe that much of what we experience in life is based on where we call home. If we can foster a safe and secure environment in our city, our families will be able to feel safe and secure here at home, setting our children up for good experiences throughout their lives and that is something we’d all like to see!

The time is right for the city of Brooklyn Park to discover and use the tools available to municipal leaders to foster life changing opportunities for people, like you and me, as well as growth & security for the business’ that employ us and those that serve us.

Yes, we must address issues like, the state of Huntington Place. Like the notorious Brooklyn Park hard water problem. Like the continued improvement of our parks. The safe redevelopment of the Hwy 252 corridor and at long last, Construction of the Blue Line. But above all we must do whatever it takes to help our neighbors see past struggle and find an opportunity that fits.

This is the reason why I’m running to represent Brooklyn Park West, on the City Council.

I’m asking you to join me in building a healthy & inclusive economy, making Brooklyn Park a city that “works”.

Vote for Tony McGarvey for Brooklyn Park city council.

Can I count on your support?
